Larry Spearman, 79, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on August 17 in Torrance, California. He was born in Wann, Oklahoma to the late Lawrence Spearman and Nettie Spearman-Jackson. Over the years, the family made their way from Oklahoma to Oregon to Bakersfield, California before settling in Lawndale, California. Larry graduated from Leuzinger High School in 1958, and then joined the National Guard. After his military service was over, he went to work for the Southern Pacific / Union Pacific Railroad, and then retiring from the Union Pacific Railroad. He was of the Baptist faith, attending church regularly when he was able. When in declining health, he watched religious programs since he was not able to attend church. In retirement, he traveled and immersed himself in military and world history and in the later years enjoyed watching old movies and military tv shows.
Larry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Minnie, daughter Doniela (Bill) of Woodlake, California, brothers Gary (Brenda) of Rock Hill, S.C., Paul (Brenda) of Lawndale, California, David of Lomita, California, and Richard (Sherry) of Batesville, Arkansas, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. All left to cherish his memory.
Services will be Saturday August 31, 2019 at Halverson Stone & Myers Mortuary in Torrance, California with viewing from 10:00am-11:00am and Services starting at 11:00am. Interment will be at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California immediately following service.
