
Joseph Edward Burden passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 6, 2006 leaving his lovely wife, Beverly to whom he was married 63 years. He also leaves twin sons, Jim and Jeff Burden, a daughter, Gala Kraftsow of Sedona Arizona, 8 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Joe grew up in Santa Monica, California. After graduating from Santa Monica High School, he worked as a crew chief for Northrop until WWII when he joined the Army Air Force. Joe represented the Army Air Force in their light heavy weight boxing championships. After the war, Joe was hired by the Los Angeles City Fire Department and retired as an engineer after 27 years.
He participated in community activities, coaching little league and Babe Ruth baseball. He contributed many hours raising money for the booster and the optimist clubs of Ojai. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying salmon fishing and deer hunting. He and his wife were world travelers and enjoyed many cruises and motor home trips with his many friends. Joe will be dearly missed.
