Johnny Miguel Ibarra

A 25 year resident of the South Bay, Johnny passed away on Friday, September 12, 2008, after an accident at his home in Torrance. Johnny was 49 when he died. Born in the Philippines, he grew up in Hawaii and attended the University of Hawaii. Johnny worked as an engineer for Boeing Satellite Systems, formerly Hughes Aircraft, for 25 years. For over 15 years, Johnny was a supporter of youth sports in the South Bay and coached area youth teams in basketball, baseball and soccer.

Johnny was loved by everyone who knew him and loved everyone in return. He was always the first one to help his friends and family in every way he could. Johnny enjoyed traveling and lived life to the fullest every day, taking pride in everything that he undertook. His passions included fine wine, good meals and an occasional cigar. John was a devoted husband, father, son and friend.

John is survived by his loving wife, Vivian Ibarra of Torrance, CA; parents Damiana and Toribio Ibarra of HI; son, Michael Ibarra of Torrance, CA; daughter, Kelly Ibarra of Torrance, CA; daughter, Kimberly (Rick) Valdez of Torrance, CA; son, Tim Spiglanin of Torrance, CA; brother, Alex (Glennia) Ibarra of HI; sister, Merle Sildora of HI; brother, Marcos (Naty) Ibarra of HI; sister, Elvie Sadorra of HI; and Renee Nance of OR, mother of Michael and Kelly. He was preceded in death by sister, Josephine Inez of HI; brother-in-law, Virginio Sildora of HI; and brother-in-law, Teddy Sadorra of HI.

A gathering of family & friends will be held at Rice Mortuary in Torrance on Friday, September 19, from 5 to 9pm, with a Vigil beginning at 7pm. A Memorial to celebrate Johnny's life will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Redondo Beach on Saturday, September 20, at 10am, followed by a Reception at the Church. Burial will be private at Pacific Crest Cemetery.
