Jo Anne Jane Wasson

A 69-year resident of Torrance, CA, Jo Anne passed away on Saturday December 26 at the age of 89. She was born June 4, 1931 in Los Angeles (Hollywood) to Gladys M. Martin, of W. Virginia, and Joseph A. Spark of Michigan. She graduated from Inglewood High School in 1949, and went to El Camino Junior College, where she met and married Jon C. Fanning. They had two daughters, Jan and Joy Fanning, and resided on Warmside Avenue in Torrance, where shortly after she was widowed.

We got so lucky when she met and married Harry R. Wasson. Soon they had a son, Jeffrey Wasson. We all moved to Beech Avenue in Torrance when Jina was born, and where JoAnne remained in her home for 69 years until she passed away December 26, 2020.

She worked in the Aerospace industry until retiring. She was an artist, with a great sense of humor, and she loved dancing with Harry, her husband of 54 years. She loved her family, landscape painting, and bowling with all their friends, a good road trip, and her animals. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, sister, mother, aunt, memo, and friend, and she was deeply loved. We will miss her so much! We hope you guys are dancing in Heaven Mom!

She is survived by her children, Jan (Dan) Verinsky, Joy C. Fanning, Jeffrey (Kelly) Wasson, Jina (Rick) Saleh. Also survived by sisters-in-law Virginia Maestrini, Janet Spark; grandchildren Scott Wasson, Tony Wasson, Chelsey B. Saleh; her nieces Tracy Maestrini, Pam Spark; and nephews Dan (Paula) Warren, Roger and Gordon Golthwaite.
