He graduated with a degree in Economics in 1952 from Université L’Aurore (now part of Fudan University) in Shanghai, China. He spent nearly 30 years as a Marine Claims examiner and manager in Hong Kong, New York, and Los Angeles. He had a deep
passion for books and particularly enjoyed history, geography, and linguistics with an emphasis on China and the Chinese language.
He passed away August 27, 2010 in Los Angeles, California. He is survived by his sisters Helen Loo, Grace Zhao, and Anna Li, his daughters Catherine Chow and Vivian Chow, many nephews and nieces including Yier (Erik) Zhao, Shan Shan (Linda) Seto, Lily (Stephanie) Li, and Evelyn (Loo) Corbitt, along with his grandson and many great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, the family charity.
