Eugene “Gene” Ramos, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at the age of 61 due to heart complications in Whittier, California.
Gene will be forever remembered by his wife of 32 years, Grace, and his children, Alison, Genelyne, and Gene. Gene will also be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren, Ryker, Johnny, Sam, Naomi, Nora, and Aiden, by his nieces, Reagan and Aparri, by his nephew, Desmond, by his sisters, Carina and Grace, by his brother, Willie, and by his father, Wilson. Gene was predeceased by his mother, Alicia Neroza.
Gene was born in Berkeley, California on July 23, 1958 to Alicia Neroza and Wilson Ramos. He served in the US Army as a Ranger Combat Medic from 1979 to 1987, where he campaigned in Croatia, Panama, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Gene married the love of his life, Grace, on February 22, 1987 in Reno, Nevada. He graduated from California State University, Chico in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Gene practiced nursing for nearly 30 years. He worked as an ER Charge Nurse at Bay Harbor Hospital, ICU Charge Nurse at Memorial Hospital of Gardena, Relief House Manager at PIH Health Downey Hospital, and ICU Registered Nurse Supervisor at Kindred Hospital Santa Ana.
Gene was a hard-working and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved traveling to Hawaii and the Philippines, fishing, snorkeling, and scuba diving. He also enjoyed listening to music, riding and fixing his motorcycles, and taking his boat out to the lake. He had an insatiable sweet tooth and would never turn down a slice of pie. Sunday BBQs, fried Thanksgiving turkeys, and chocolate chip banana pancakes were his trademarks. He was well known for his good sense of humor and sarcastic remarks. Gene knew how to make anyone he met laugh. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A Funeral Service in memory of Gene will be livestreamed on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. via Halverson, Stone & Myers Mortuary Facebook page. Visitation will follow from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Halverson, Stone & Myers Mortuary 1223 Cravens Ave. Torrance, CA 90501. Face masks are mandatory upon entry.
