Frank S. Miya MD, a 50 year resident of the South Bay, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at home. He was surrounded by his loving three daughters, wife, grandchildren, brother Harry and his family, nephew Ken, chihuahua Nickie and Hodge the cat. Frank was born on a farm in Hanford CA to immigrant parents from Japan and was the seventh and youngest child; he died at 83 years old.
Frank was a wonderful asset to the city of Hawthorne by providing 50 years of compassionate family medicine to the community. Frank touched many lives. He was a brilliant man of many life experiences, education, generosity and an everlasting sense of humor. Frank's life focus was his family and practicing medicine. Frank's favorite activity was enjoying Sunday dinner with his family at his daughter Lori's home followed by warm apple pie.
Frank is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Miya; daughters, Lori Malinbaum, Lynette Miya and Leslie Miya; sister, Hideko Umino; brother, Tom Miya; brother, Harry Miya; and four grandchildren: Sacha, Dimitri, Yoshi, and Kai. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harue and Katsunosuke Miya, sister Yoshiko and brothers Kay and Ueichi.
The Memorial Service will be held at Palos Verdes Country Club, Saturday 1/22/11 at 12:30 pm.
