Elizabeth M. Schoonover, a 52 year resident of Hawthorne, California, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Los Angeles, CA. Born to Melvin and Eva Meeks on April 8, 1938 in Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth was 78 when she died. Elizabeth attended Southwest High School in Atlanta, but graduated from Los Angeles City Evening High School.
In 1955, she married Gayle B. Schoonover and moved to Los Angeles, CA. They had one daughter Erin Elaine Schoonover. Elizabeth worked for Sav-on/CVS Drug Stores for 26 years.She started out scooping ice cream and became a Front End Manager, working at several different stores in the South Bay and Los Angeles.
Elizabeth had a strong love of family. Elizabeth was a loyal and trustworthy friend. She was the confidant and mentor of many people. Elizabeth loved animals, especially dogs. She almost always had at least one dog. Her dogs, Lucy and Muffin, will miss her greatly, as will her two cats, Sunshine and Moonshine.
Elizabeth loved America, politics and Fox News. She loved her Saturday morning cooking shows, House Hunters, Fixer Upper, and In the Kitchen with David. Elizabeth loved the Los Angeles Lakers. She loved them through the good and bad years. Elizabeth loved music and singing. She sang her whole life. Elizabeth had a strong faith in God and attended Centinela Bible Church until she was no longer able. She is preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Eva Meeks; husband Gayle Schoonover; brother Melvin Meeks, Jr. and nephew Gary Schoonover. She is survived by her daughter Erin Elaine Schoonover; brother Lewis Meeks and his wife, June; brother-in-law, Dell Schoonover and his wife Marjorie and several nieces and nephews.
