July 10, 1972 – August 27, 2024
Christopher Hewins Locke, 52, of Manhattan Beach, CA, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024. Chris was born on July 10, 1972 in Dover, New Hampshire to Robert H. & Janice (Hayden) Locke who survive him.
He grew up in Eliot, Maine, Concord, Massachusetts, and Wooster, Ohio and graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1994. Chris worked in the financial industry for four years before attending Columbia Business School where he earned his MBA with a concentration in finance in 2000. After working for several financial services companies in New York City and San Diego, he and his family moved to Los Angeles where for more than 16 years he was the CEO/General Partner of HFH, Ltd., a private, family-owned partnership that owns and operates a diverse real estate portfolio of residential and commercial properties, primarily in Southern California. He was a licensed California Real Estate Broker focused on the strategic growth of HFH while also being integral in the day-to-day operations.
He was a loving presence to his children Hayden William Locke and Isabelle (Izzy) Heather Locke, and to their mother Lisa Gayle (Youngblood) Locke. Cherished brother of both Jonathan Locke & his wife Kana, and his niece Hana; and Susannah Dougherty & her husband Michael, and his niece Josie. Best friend and partner in shenanigans to Gary Charlton.
Chris was a kind and generous person with an engaging presence whose greatest joy was being Hayden and Isabelle’s dad. He treasured every moment with them reading, playing, skiing, hiking, swimming, singing or just talking about their day. He nurtured relationships and maintained strong bonds with his many lifelong friends and family; he was an outstanding son. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, working out, listening to live music, swimming, and traveling. Chris was known for his fun-loving nature, quick wit, respectful demeanor, intelligence, and beautiful smile.
