Johnson, Christopher Ryan a resident of Torrance, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006 in Los Angeles. Born in Redondo Beach, Christopher was days away from his Redondo Union High School graduation when he died unexpectedly. His death leaves a gaping hole in the hearts and souls of those who loved him. In life Christopher's passions for family, friends, music, sports, reading and writing defined a character that could not be categorized. In his short 18 years he developed an eclectic musical taste that ran from blues to speed metal, from rap to country with a dollop of real punk rock mixed in. A budding writer, Christopher's way with words began when he was about 5 and continued on until recent times when he started writing songs for the band he and his friends formed, Schindler's Fist. He even penned a one-time column that ran in the Daily Breeze in 2003 and went on to write for his high school newspaper. And, like any good subversive literate, Christopher listed Hunter S. Thompson as a personal hero. Through music, literature and life, Christopher was well into forming his own strong ideals. Sportswise, he earned his nickname "Sunshine" while playing football at RUHS and was a fan of the Broncos, Eagles, Dodgers and Clippers. Above all these disparate pieces of his being, Christopher will always be remembered as a beautiful and loving son, brother, grandson and nephew with soul-deep eyes and a genuine smile. May his memory live long in our hearts. He is survived by Mother, Cindy Johnson of Torrance, CA, Father, Ron Lockridge of Long Beach, CA; Sister, Kaitlin Lockridge of Long Beach, CA; and Brother, Mason Woodward of Torrance, CA. On his mother's side he's survived by Grandparents, Bud and Polly Johnson of Torrance, CA; Aunt, Debbie Rooney of Long Beach, CA; Uncle, Bill Johnson of Harbor City, CA; Aunt, Jodi McDonald of Sublimity, OR; and Uncle, Dennis Johnson of Long Beach, CA. On his father's side, he's survived by Grandmother, Terry Lockridge, of Moreno Valley, CA; and Uncles, Rich and Randy Lockridge, both of Long Beach, CA. A gathering of family & friends will be held at Rice Mortuary on Friday, June 30, 2006 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The Service will be also at Rice Mortuary on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach.
