Bradley Charles Landis, of Manhattan Beach, passed away on May 22, 2013, of pneumonia. Brad was born on June 22, 1931, in Hollywood, California, to Charles Homer Landis and Ruby Myrtle Edella Mehlin Landis. The family lived in Cheviot Hills and Altadena, California Brad and his friend for life, Bob Schneider, enjoyed hiking the hills in Pasadena. Brad attended Elliott High School and UCLA, where he joined Sigma Nu Fraternity. His best Sigma Nu friends are Dick Horst, Dick Scott, and Dave Rose (deceased). Brad was hired on Santa Monica beach in 1956, by Dick Horst, as an Engineering Planner at North American Aviation. At NAA, Brad met his long-time pals, Bob Conner, Jack Jones, Herb Borchardt and Mike Maiorano. All are deceased. He retired from Rockwell International in 1986. Brad married Sandra Royds in 1961. Sean Landis and Heather Landis Luttmer were born to them. After the marriage ended, he focused his life on his children, his parents, and his friends. Brad and Yolanda Ponce were married in 1970, and resided in Manhattan Beach throughout their marriage. Brad and his pals were fixtures on the beach at the Fourth Street lifeguard tower and UCLA football games. After sundown, they sang at local piano bars or around Brad or Conner's player pianos. Tai Song Restaurant was their spot for regular evaluations of world events.Brad will be missed forever by his family; wife Yoli; son Sean; daughter Heather and her husband Grant Luttmer; grandchildren Katie, Amie, Debbie and Christi Landis; Nate and Amelia Luttmer; sister-in-law, Marina Guerena and her family, and friends Bob and Helen Schneider, Faye Bailey, Mary Jones, Margaret Horst, Shirley Rose, Sue Scott, and Maria Garbutt, his steadfast and loving caregiver. Brad's family is forever grateful to friends who visited during his long illness. Interment will be on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, Holy Cross Cemetery, 5835 West Slauson Avenue, Culver City, CA 90230. The family plans a memorial Mass this summer.
