Barbara Carol Thompson

Barbara Carol Thompson passed away the morning of August 8, 2024, in Torrance, California. She was born on May 10, 1940 to Lloyd and Verna Barrett in Phoenix, AZ. Barbara has a sister, Marilyn Sheppard, a niece, Darcy and a nephew Aaron and several cousins. The family settled in Glendale, CA.

In 1961, when Barbara was 20 years old she married the love of her life, Arthur Thompson, Jr. She did some modeling and then worked in the Event Planning industry. In 1962, Barbara and Arthur had a child, Tracey Robin Thompson. Tracey was a special needs child. Barbara and Arthur devoted the rest of their life to provide the best possible life for Tracey.

Barbara went to Sacramento, CA to lobby for rights for handicapped individuals. She advocated for better healthcare and respite care for the families. Barbara was kind, caring, and compassionate and dedicated her life to the care of her beloved family. She touched many people with her beautiful smile and warm personality and will be greatly missed.

Barbara and Art shared a love for the beach and in their later years resided in Redondo Beach with a beautiful view of the ocean.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents and her husband Arthur. She is survived by her daughter, Tracey.
