A 19-year Redondo Beach resident, Laurie had a 43-year nursing career, where she treated patients with compassion and humor. She most recently worked at the Surgery Center of the South Bay.
Her international travels took her to such destinations as Mexico, Africa, Egypt, the Galapagos, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, and Italy. She enjoyed photographing African wildlife and ocean wildlife, and collecting the arts and crafts of the cultures she encountered.
Laurie is survived by her daughter Annie Lubinsky, son David Gorton, sister Kathy McConnell, brother Peter Krafchik, nieces Erin Parker and Amy Armstrong, nephew Nicholas Krafchik, great nephews Ryan and Sam Parker, and many other loving relatives, friends, and coworkers. She will be greatly missed.
A viewing will take place Wednesday, May 11, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at White & Day Colonial Mortuary, 901 Torrance Boulevard, in Redondo Beach.
