Andrew Ioimo went home to Jesus on Tuesday morning, October 21. He was born on May 11, 1985 at Little Company of Mary Hospital and lived in Manhattan Beach for all his 18 years. Andrew was severely handicapped by cerebral palsy, which led to other serious medical problems, numerous surgeries and many trials in his young life. He was an incredibly peaceful, loving, sweet little boy, who brought such joy into our lives, and his patience and love for us taught us all so much about God's love. We miss his sweet presence, but we are thankful he is no longer restricted by his poor, broken, little body, and we rejoice at his freedom. Andrew is survived by his parents Charlie and Kristi, his brother Christopher - all Manhattan Beach residents - numerous precious grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins across the country. In addition to our incredible family, who has been the most wonderful support anyone could ask for, we want to thank all the people who came along side us in our amazing journey through Andrew's life. First and foremost, our sincere love and appreciation to our Hope Chapel family, led by Pastor Zac Nazarian, who kept us all constantly in their prayers. Dr. Joanna Wong was our closest medical ally and advocate, followed immediately by Dr. Lettie Burgett. Dr. James Hamada, and Dr. Harvey Karp were compassionate and protective of his comfort and well-being, and gave us excellent advice and aid early in his life. Harbor Regional Center came to his bedside at Children's Hospital, L.A. when he was first born, introduced themselves to us and faithfully stood beside us through all his trials. In his last years, as he became more and more fragile, Universal Home Health; in particular Paul Kastin, Carol and Dolores; walked with us through the sadness and joys of his life. There will be a memorial service for our son on Saturday, November 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Hope Chapel, 2420 PCH, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Andrew's name to Hope Chapel or to Harbor Health Fund, c/o Kathy Scheffer at Harbor Regional Center, 21231 Hawthorne Blvd., Torrance, CA 90503.
