Hello, Volt, Pinky and Jon-E: I always think of my bff Olaid. I miss her so much. Sometimes I feel her presence like a guardian angel.

Know that Olaid was and continues to be well-loved, and is sorely missed. She had such a sense of humor, right to the very end.

I hope to one day have the courage Tita Olaid had towards the end of her life. I feel so blessed to have her part of my life. She has touched my life and heart that gave me eternal gift of many happy memories, like our trip to Orlando Florida.  I remember the sparkle in her eyes after going on a helicopter ride. Olaid's passing still came as a shock to me. I really thought she had fully healed. She was very much full of hope and optimism the first time I visited her at the hospital when she was confined for a certain length of time. She rallied in the months following that period. We looked forward to her attendance at our Rizal Society of Ontario (RSO) meetings. She really put up a good fight, trying hard not to make us uncomfortable with the knowledge of her condition.

We will miss you, Olaid...and we pray for your eternal rest.

And I salute you, Voltaire, for your untiring devotion to Olaid and the fortitude with which you carried the burden of having to care for her through the end.

olaid's going home to our CREATOR wasn't a shock to me cuz i know HE will take her HOME where she can rest without pain. i was still priveledge to see her in 2009 looking so happy and strong inspite of her illness. still GOD gave her more time to enjoy her beloved husband and children and grandchildren. but GOD took her back now so she will not suffer anymore. volt,pinky n jon-e , i am with you in this moment of your loss , i lost a special friend to my heart but her memory will always be around me until the day we will meet. It was in December of 2011 when I last saw Olaid.  She was then occupied with the funeral arrangements for the late Ging Hernandez.  Olaid was her usual confident and friendly self while taking care of what was then a complicated matter.  Unbeknownst to me, until she intimated, that amid her busyness then, Olaid was actually suffering and courageously fighting off stage three cancer.  She went about the task with casual aplomb until the job was done without a hitch.  

Voltaire may be the usual frontliner, but Olaid's quiet, unassuming yet imposing presence behind him will be sorely missed.  Rest in the eternal loving embrace of your Creator, Olaid.

We will miss you Olaid, brave and gracious lady, a wonderful sister-in-law, a caring aunt to Aggie, Marielle, Jobie and Miggy, our positive and empathetic cheerleader in our journey in Canada as new immigrants.
