Dear Olga & Max….I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Gerald.  My very sincere condolences on this tremendous loss.  It was such a pleasure to work with yourself and Wolfgang over so many years and I will always remember Wolfgang’s wonderful laugh, positive outlook on life and sense of humour.  Thoughts and prayers are with you both and your family.

Wolfgang wird mir fehlen.  Ich lernte ihn vor mehr als 20 Jahren kennen.  Aus den ersten Kontakten entwickelte sich eine Freundschaft.  Ich habe viele wunderschöne Erinnerungen an gemeinsame Treffen, an unseren Familienurlaub in Kanada und an viele weitere schöne Stunden. Wolfgang war ein sehr guter Freund, aber für mich auch ein Lehrer,  der  viel Ruhe und Erfahrung ausstrahlte. Ich werde Wolfgang nicht vergessen.

Wolfgang Spillner was one the the most sincere, friendly and caring men I have ever met. Tim and I have known the Spillner’s for years and wolfed infectious smile was always a welcome sight in the Neighbor hood.
Every time he greeted us it was always with a huge smile and a friendly hug.
He will be forever missed!!!

Als mich die Nachricht von Wolfgangs Tod erreichte, war ich maßlos traurig. Ein Großer ist von uns gegangen!
In unseren jungen Jahren vor mehr als 50 Jahren haben wir einige sehr schöne Momente gemeinsam erlebt. Die Touren mit der Band, im Starclub auf der Reeperbahn oder auch bei einem Fußballspiel. Und vieles mehr! Aber dann ging Olli (so hieß er bei uns) nach Canada aber er war auch immer wieder einmal in der alten Heimat. Ich erinnere mich an eine Golfrunde in Hamburg-Falkenstein und an viele andere Begegnungen, die hängengeblieben sind. 
Ich wünsche Olga und Max viel Kraft bei der Bewältigung des Schmerzes und der Trauer.

May you all continue to reflect and cherish  the beautiful memories of Wolfgang.
I was very privileged to work for Wolfgang from 1989 to 1998 at JH Bachmann and later to be part of the “Dream Team” of his new founded company Albacor Shipping and the rest is history.
I will forever be grateful to Wolfgang for my first job as new immigrant to Canada and providing me the opportunity to grow,  learn and excel within both companies.
Wolfgang was a great and caring boss I admired his great persona and professionalism.
Over the years we also had chance to share fun times at many Christmas parties and other celebrations along the way and he was definitely “life of the party”
May you forever rest in peace and fly high with the angels Mr. President.



I was the first nanny from Andre, Neil and Christine. I wish them the strength to get through this time of mourning.

A working relationship with Wolfgang in the 1970’s quickly developed into a friendship during the years he lived in Calgary.  This continued for many, many years through numerous visits back and forth between Calgary, Banff, Toronto and Newmarket to celebrate various special occasions together with our families.   We will always remember these times together with tremendous fondness.  Extending our deepest sympathy to the entire Spillner family.

I was sad to hear about Wolfgang's passing .
He was the first person I  met, when we arrived from Germany 40 years ago.
We became friends with his family and enjoyed many socials together. 
Wolfgang was confident and charming and played the guitar so well .

Our memories of Wolfgang go back many, many years. There were many gatherings, parties, BBQs, hikes, soccer games, Easter-hunts, and best of all -  so much laughter. I have never forgotten  Max’s first day with me  in Grade One at Crestwood School.
 When I met the three of you at my classroom door, I immediately sensed your warm, lovely and kind natures. During the year I taught Max, I always looked forward to the time I spent with his parents and well as with him. Wolfgang had such a friendly disposition and was always so appreciative and kind. Wolfgang was our neighbour and good fried at the family cottage. He learned now to drive a boat and was willing to try new things. He always had a smile and a welcoming greeting for whoever he came across.  He was very respected within our little community and will be sorely missed by all.  May he rest in peace. 

Our journey together began some 65 years ago in a small town near Hamburg/Germany.
We’ve been best friends ever since. My gratitude to you is enormous. Thank you for your friendship and RIP my friend. You’ll be forever missed.


Wolfgang always had  time for a little chat when we were walking our dogs.   it was nice to see his smiling face and he never complained when the weather was not good for our pups.   May he rest in peace and he will be missed by his family and friends and his little 4 legged friend as well.
