Bill was someone who stood with an armoured exterior but gave so much love and attention to those around him. He was charismatic and known for his deep conversations. Some of our families’ favourite titles that he holds and will forever be remembered for are Dad, Gramps/Grandpa, Uncle Bill and The Sod Father. For over 50 years, Bill owned and operated a successful landscaping and sodding business. What started out as a young man cutting grass with a push mower, evolved over the years into a man who supported his family through the success of his business and hard work.
Bill will be missed and remembered lovingly by his beloved wife of almost 70 years, Janet “June” Hughes; daughters, Sharon Hughes and Christine (Mark) Sterling; honourary son/nephew, Craig (Barb) Aspinall; niece, Susan Aspinall; grandchildren, William (Janet) Sterling, Jessica (Matthew Riley) Dart, Michael Sterling, Justin (Rebecca) Dart, Victoria Sterling; great grandchildren, Emmalee and Elizabeth Sterling, Addison Riley, and Lucas Dart. Bill will also be forever missed by his extended family and many dear friends.
Bill was predeceased by his son William “Billy” Mitchel Hughes, daughter Janet “Jan” Flora Hughes, and son-in-law Phil Sawyer.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
