Ron was the 4th child born to George Leslie Leach and Peggy Muriel Leach. He is survived by his sister Teresa Marie Leach.
Ron grew up in a household that embraced music, art, literature and food. He graduated from Sir Oliver Mowat High School in 1971 and while he intended to enter the fine arts program at Ryerson University, his application was mysteriously misplaced.
This happy mistake led him to accept his first role as an agent in film and television at The Characters Talent Agency and lit a passion that lasted his entire life. He went on to teach, direct, write, and (reach the pinnacle of his career as a noted Canadian casting director) over the course of his career. Something he was actively involved in until his departure.
Over the course of his life, he fulfilled his ambition to travel extensively, visiting 3 of the 7 continents. He had an exceptional singing voice - he sang at his sister’s wedding as a young boy and he was known in his circles as a legendary chef.
He was also an avid supporter of the “Friends for Life”, bike rally, cycling from Toronto to Montreal for 7 years to help those living with HIV and AIDS.
Thank you to the entire amazing TGH team that took such good care of Ron in the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
There will be a celebration of Ron's extraordinary life with details to follow shortly.
