Peter was born in 1964, to Ross and Doris Strickland in London, Ontario. As the youngest of six, all born within 10 years, he had a busy and loving childhood. He graduated from Western University with a degree in economics and worked in financial services. His colleagues appreciated his loyalty, hard-work and kindness, and none more so than his coworker, Cathy, with whom a lifelong relationship blossomed. The true focus of Peter's life was his family. Whether it be cooking delicious meals or driving his kids to baseball, Peter was our rock. Life with Peter was always an adventure, from the summers and weekends at the cottage to road trips to Boston and Tennessee. Peter was also involved in many aspects of his community, including Scouts and Ice Masters.
Peter loved the outdoors: boys' weekends at the cottage, sitting on the dock, and numerous camping trips. There was never too much time spent fishing or sitting by the fire with a beer in hand. His happiest moments were in his red canoe on Saturday mornings, fighting the current in the Toronto Beaches.
He will always be remembered for his tasteful home brew, fabulous apple pies, and deadpan humour.
Peter is preceded in death by his father, his mother, and nephew, Jordan. He will live on in the hearts of his wife Cathy and children Matthew and Adam, his siblings Paul (Janice), Carol (Ron) Hemphill, Martha (Jacques dec.) Chouffot, David, and Mark (Sascha), his in-laws Frank and Rhene Hanson, brother-in-law Brian Hanson, and a multitude of nephews, nieces, friends, and extended family.
