We celebrate the life of Peggy Este, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Peggy's journey through life took her to Toronto, Ontario, where she touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and radiant spirit.
A strong, independent woman, Peggy worked her way to being an Assistant Producer for CBC Radio. Years later, after retiring from the CBC, she worked for the Children’s Aid Society as a Foster Mother, providing dedicated care to a great number of girls. Peggy was a long standing member and supporter of the YMCA, where she made countless friends over the years while exercising, running and finishing 7 marathons including the Boston Marathon. Peggy loved spending time with her grandchildren, enjoyed going to documentary film festivals, attending art and cultural events, live music concerts and shopping for great deals. Peggy often sought out new experiences. She travelled to many countries which gave her a well-rounded view of the world. Her fondness and love for her many pets over the years brought immense joy and fulfilment. Years of walking her dog regularly in Cedarvale Ravine offered good exercise and a great way to meet new friends.
Above all things…Family was most important.
Peggy is reunited in heaven with her parents, Marion and Arden Innis and her siblings, Art Dorington, Seibert Innis, Hal Dorrington, Gladys Innis, and Doug Innis. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Yvonne Spencer and Deborah Coward. Peggy was a cherished mother to Kim Este-Watkins (Dave Watkins) and Tamara Este-Rouse (Bryan Rouse). Her grandchildren, Isaiah, Adam, Akiel, and Alanah, held a special place in her heart. Peggy's legacy also lives on in the hearts of her many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Peggy's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the joy of connecting with others and trying new things. Her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
