Oriel Coward

During her childhood years she attended Grace Hill Primary School and St. Leonard’s Girls’ Secondary School. She was raised by a strong and God fearing mother who instilled the values of hard work and a love of God in her.

After graduating from school, she immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1965 and then moved to Toronto later on that year where she met Dennis Coward. They married in 1968 at St. Paul’s Anglican Church and had two children, Denise and Anderson.

She worked at Canada Post for over 30 years before retiring in 2002. In her later years, Mrs. Coward actively participated as a member of the Women’s Group at Oakwood Wesleyan Church and always checked in on her many friends and family members.

She is survived by her husband Dennis, her two children, Denise and Andy, her daughter-in-law Tracy, her two grandchildren Spencer and Austin, along with her brother Winfield and sisters Maureen, Rose, Julie and Harriette.

Mrs. Coward passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital and is now in the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Donations can be made in her honor to the Odette Cancer Center at Sunnybrook Hospital.

A Celebration of Life service will be hosted on Saturday, April 1 at 10:00 AM at Oakwood Wesleyan Church, 33 Brandon Avenue, Toronto. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
