Nga devoted her life to helping other people, whether it be supporting her family to come to Canada, helping her friends in dire times, or making sure that her children were taken care of. Nga was a hard worker, she put in the effort in all areas of her life to make sure that she could provide for her loved ones. If there was one word that could describe her, it would be selfless. She made sure that she left this world better than she found it.
Aside from her dedication to others, Nga recently started to dedicate some time for herself. It’s no surprise - she deserves to treat herself like she’s been treating other people! From spending her free time gardening, still cultivating life, to going on trips she’s always wanted to go, I know that she was able to enjoy her life for herself - even if it was for a short period.
Nga was a woman with many layers. Her favourite colour was purple. She would almost always eat Vietnamese comfort food, with the exception of emptying out the grilled ribs at our local all-you-can-eat sushi. She loves flowers and gardening. She was a Tetris queen (for the Super Nintendo)! A Solitaire veteran. She was obsessed with bingo for about a week. She loved painting every single wall in her house white, despite our protests. She was obsessed with cleaning; her house was cleaner than anyone’s I’ve ever seen! She always over-seasoned her eggs. Her Bò Kho was the best I’ve ever had. After all the years working at Tim Hortons, she still had troubles saying “toasted with butter”.
She laughed hard. She cried sorrowly. She knew what she wanted for herself and others and fought for it. Her love was sweet. Her love was tough. Everything she’s ever done in her life was done because she cared. Even when things got messy and crazy, her heart was always in the right place. There was still so much of her life to live, but we hope that her time here gave her peace and meaning.
Nga will be missed. She will be loved. She will be remembered. Her actions have woven all of us together. She’s touched our hearts so that we can carry her love through the rest of our lives.
