Dear Janice, Colm and Brian,
We remember Janice's 40th birthday, your mom seated by the desserts in a position sure to greet everyone who came and to get to know them. And each time we met her she was curious about us, asked questions, was interested and kind. The last few years have been unimaginably hard on each of you, and yet there is always the hope for more time and a shock at the reality of saying goodbye. We hope that you each find your own unique ways to hold memories of the parts that were hard, and the parts that felt good. Thinking of you.

Brian, Colm and Janice, so sorry for the loss of Auntie Marie. I have so many lovely memories of your Mum and Dad when they would come to visit us at Ireland and when I went and stayed with them in Canada. One memory that stands out in my mind is when Uncle Jerry had passed and your Mam had traveled to Ireland for a visit on her own and always wanted a champagne and strawberries breakfast and her wish was granted that visit to Charnwood. I really want to thank you for making it possible for us to be a part of the service today as it allowed Mam (Auntie Ann) to view it from over here in Ireland too. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

My parents decided to leave Ireland to come to Canada to have a better life. It was hard leaving friends and family, especially back in 1957 when travelling wasn’t as easy. My mom always missed Ireland a little but had a good life here in Canada, raising a family, making friends, travelling and eventually owing a cottage up north.
My mom taught me how to love beauty, be it fashion or nature. You just had to take a look at her closet to see how much see loved fashion, especially when she found a deal on something. She loved to bake and cook for her family, this really came out at Christmas when she baked cookies and pulled out old family recipes to make puddings and cakes. She loved silly shows such as Laverne and Shirley and going to Ontario place take in a show at the Forum. Mom was a lifelong learner, who enjoyed documentaries, reading the daily newspaper, helping me with my homework and always listening to CFRB radio when I was growing up. She loved her family most of all.
My mom was kind to everyone she met. Being Catholic was very important to her and helped her with the loss of her husband Gerard, almost 22 years ago.
She will be missed for her gentle ways, stories and how she was always ready to help. The last few years were hard on her and her family as she was sick and in palliative care not once but twice. True what they say about the fighting Irish. 
Her time to go to the next life has come, she is ready now to be with our dad.
Mom we love you, we will miss you, you will always be in our hearts.



Brian , Collum,  Janice  , I am sorry for your (dare I say our ) loss . The memories of Aunt Maria are engraved in my memories as are those  of your father and each of you . I am saddened that due to the present pandemic issues we will be unable to attend the service  but our prayers will be with you  .  May each of you stay healthy and enjoy your happy memories .
