Mary Bartlett Franklin was born May 1, 1914, the second child and only daughter to Philip and Violet Bartlett. She was predeceased by her brothers, John, George, Tom and Herb. The family lived in the Matheson area for many years with Mary eventually finding her way to Toronto as a young woman.
Marriage to George Franklin followed and her greatest joy was the birth of her daughter Doreen (predeceased). Through the years in Toronto she raised Doreen and purchased a home on Moberly Avenue which she lived in up until 2011.
Her working experiences included time as one of the "bomb girls" at the Scarborough Plant. She was well known for her strong recall and could name everyone in a Shillington/Matheson school picture and knew where they were on that day.
Strong in personality, spirit and faith, she passed away at Heritage Nursing Home on April 25, 2017, as she wished, peacefully.
The families of her siblings shall miss her recollections of earlier times.
A Service of Rememberance will take place on Monday, May 8th from 10:30 - 11:00 am at the Giffen-Mack Danforth Funeral Home, 2570 Danforth Avenue, 416-698-3121. Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 am in the Giffen-Mack Chapel, followed by Interment at Highland Memory Gardens.
Arnold Adams, much like a son to Mary, and her niece Sharon Bartlett Troy would like to publicly thank Deborah Hill for her kindness to Mary particularly as the days became more difficult.
