Mary was born in Port Hood, Nova Scotia on March 18, 1934 to John and Marcella Chisholm. She spent her youth in Port Hood and after graduating high school attended the University of St. Francis Xavier in nearby Antigonish, receiving a degree in nursing.
Her life took her and her family to France and Germany for many years before returning to Canada and settling in Ottawa, Ontario. There she worked for National Defense Medical Centre in the position of head nurse until her retirement.
Mary was a dedicated, caring person with a quick wit, she carried these traits in all aspects of her life, both personal and professional. She was a loving and caring mother, friend and wife who enjoyed many lasting friendships during her life.
In her later years she spent her time on sewing and quilting, she made lasting works of art with her quilts, that are treasured by anyone who was lucky enough to receive one.
She will be remembered for her generous nature, her sense of humor and of course her lemon squares. She will be greatly missed by her children, Mom, we love you.
Mary is preceded in death by her siblings: Alec, John, Duncan and Coline.
Mary is survived by her siblings: Bernard and Anne, her children; Lisa, David and Robert, her grandchildren; Bruce, Gregory, Siobhan, Justin and Kendra, and her great grandchildren; Kaiden, Addison and Dakota.
Even though it is a time of sorrow, we need to remember that she lived a full and well travelled life. Please say a prayer for Mary, a remarkable woman.
