Maria Da Conceicao Amaral

Maria Da Conceicao Amaral was born on August 20, 1937, in São Miguel, Azores, Portugal, to Gloria Paiva Da Silva and Joaquim Da Silva. She was the eldest of four siblings: Maria, Lurdes, Alfredo, and Ernesto.

Maria married Eduardo Amaral and, in 1965, made the courageous journey to Canada with their six-month-old son, Carlos, to reunite with her husband, who had gone ahead to establish a home and secure work for their young family. In 1969, Maria gave birth to their second child, Rosa, and devoted the following years to raising her family with love, care, and strength.

As her children grew older, Maria took on a part-time job with an office cleaning company. Later in life, when her husband’s Parkinson’s disease progressed, she became his devoted caregiver, dedicating her time and energy to his health and well-being. After his passing, Maria continued to give back by volunteering at the same nursing home where he had spent his final months.

Maria deeply loved her family and took immense pride in her Son Carlos, Daughter in Law Carmella, Grandchildren Gloria and Melissa, her Daughter Rosa, Son in Law Kevin and Grandchildren Olivia, and Lucas. She lived a full and meaningful life, touching the hearts of not only her immediate family but also her many nieces and nephews. Her warmth, kindness, and sense of humor created cherished memories that are still fondly remembered and shared to this day.

Maria passed away peacefully from natural causes at the age of 87. Her legacy of love, strength, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at the Jerrett Funeral Home- St. Clair Chapel, 1141 St. Clair Ave. W on Tuesday April 15, 2025 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm.

Funeral Mass to celebrate Maria's life will be held at St. Mary of the Angels Church, 1481 Dufferin St. on Wednesday April 16, 2025 at 11am.

Entombment to follow at Prospect Cemetery, 1450 St. Clair Ave. W.
