Margaret Catherine Stille, 79, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away on February, 21 2023, comfortably and peacefully. Born in Timmins, Ontario to Helen and Lawrence Brennan, Margaret was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She grew up in The Beach with her brother Bill and had lots of fun with her friends. Margaret went to Victoria College in Toronto and eventually settled in the northern part of Toronto to help raise a family. Margaret’s love of languages led to a career as a French immersion teacher for the Toronto District School Board and built a strong community of teacher friends along the way.
Margaret was an extremely loving wife, dedicated to her husband of 51 years (Peter). She was deeply proud of her sons (Anthony and John), daughter-in-law (Gina), and grandchildren (Abbey, Sam, Marin, and Sadie). Her four grandchildren loved their Grandma very much and it is easy to see her strong character reflected in their behaviour.
Margaret was an active participant in life. She was a lover of antiques, played bridge with her friends (on occasion), participated in local school events, travelled a lot with Peter, and she loved spending time at her family cottage on Lake Erie.
Margaret was a deeply driven person and a fighter, especially in her later years, when she worked very hard to maintain her independence despite suffering from Parkinson’s Disease. She deeply valued her friendships and maintained long-lasting connections with those she loved. She was never one to hold back her opinions, but she always did it with love and respect. Her friends will be quick to tell you how much of a light Margaret was.
The funeral service will be held at 2 pm on March 1st, 2023 at St Nicholas Birch Cliff Anglican Church. Rev. Joan Wilson will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on February 28th, 2023 at the Jerrett Funeral Home, 660 Kennedy Road, Scarborough ON (South of Eglinton Ave E). Burial will follow the funeral at Pine Hills Cemetery.
