Sadness at Margaret's passing is shared by family and her many friends. She will be especially missed by her two children, Penelope (Penny) and Garry, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth (Liz), two grandchildren, Shaunisty and Sydnee as well as her two great-grandchildren, Braelyn and Atlis, and her brother Arthur. Also her many friends in her Scarborough neighbourhood of 40 years as well as friends and colleagues from her many decades as a cashier at Shoppers.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Jack, her brothers, Harry and Wally, and her son-in-law, Bartley.
Margaret was married to Jack since 1961. She will be profoundly happy to be reunited with him and only partly because she hasn’t had anyone to nag for the last 4 ½ years. Always and forever playing for keeps.
Margaret will be remembered for her strength in the face of many health challenges she faced since her teenage years. She rarely let her situation get her down and was tougher than anyone gave her credit for, making it to 77 years of age.
She strongly disliked bad language, except for “shit-man-I-can’t-dance” which was totally acceptable and used by her frequently. She loved Elvis (but definitely not Priscilla) and was happy to have visited his Memphis home more than once even though she never did see him in concert. She was highly emotional so you never had to guess what she was thinking, it was written all over her face. And was deeply devoted to her family.
Our porch and our hearts will be empty without her.
We love you Mom/Moe.
A visitation will be held at 6:00 – 7:00pm on Thursday, August 11th at Jerrett Funeral Homes - Scarborough Chapel, 660 Kennedy Road followed by a memorial service at 7pm. Whilst flowers are welcome, the family asks that you instead consider a donation to Margaret’s preferred charity, the MS Society of Canada ( https://mssociety.ca/ ), in honor of her passing.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.jerrettfuneralhome.com for the Smith family.
