She is survived by her husband of over 50 years Russell, her children David (Melanie Zettler) and Carolyn (John Grootveld) and her grandchildren Declan, Samantha, Jake, Genevieve and Dahlia.
She was born on December 2, 1944, in Brantford, Ontario. Shortly after, she was adopted by George and Isabelle Addison who formed a loving family with her older siblings brother Peter and sister Mary. Later in life her family grew even larger after reuniting with her biological family, the Rutherfords.
Marg graduated from the Ethel M. Finkle School of Nursing and dedicated her career to caring for others at the Clarke Institute, Bloorview Children’s Hospital and finally working as Director of Services at Muscular Dystrophy Canada for more than a decade. Her spare time was spent warming the hearts of others singing barbershop for years with Sweet Adeline’s and her quartet. When not singing, Margaret was in the garden admiring and caring for plants and blooms of all types throughout the year but especially her prized perennials - including her favourite: peonies.
Marg’s loving care of others coloured her entire life. A dedicated and loving mother, wife, friend, and empathetic ear to anyone who needed compassion and caring. Her wit, warmth and heart will be greatly missed.
Special thanks to all who cared for her in her final days at St. Michael's Hospital and to her caregiver, Jenifer.
Services will be held at Giffen Mack & Trull Funeral Home 2570 Danforth Ave. Toronto, ON M4C1L3 on Saturday April 29. A viewing will begin at 1pm followed by a ceremony and reception at 3pm.
