Lydia was of German descent, born in Vincovci, Yugoslavia, the second youngest of six children of parents Peter and Magdalena Dautermann; she is predeceased by her older brother Emil, her sisters Hermina, Myra, Leah, and Emily; she is also predeceased by Adam, her husband of 54 years. Lydia is survived by her son Tim, and his children with Karen, Jordan, Megan and Jaclyn, as well as her sister-in-law Erika (Wolfgang), brother-in-law Dieter, and nieces and nephews: Margaret, Ernie, Roy (Teresa), Debbie (Kris), and Danny (Cynthia).
Lydia was a devoted wife, mom and Oma who dearly loved her family and God. She faithfully attended and served in various Pentecostal churches over the course of her life (her father was a minister), and ultimately transitioned to attending Calvary Church on Pape when she moved to the Danforth area in 2014. Lydia loved children, and cared for them in various capacities (mom, Oma, Sunday School teacher, babysitter, nanny) throughout her life. Lydia's greatest wish was that she would one day live together with all of her loved ones in heaven for eternity - she has now been reunited with her beloved Adam.
Lydia's family would like to thank the staff at Nisbet Lodge for taking care of her during the last few years of her life - they treated her like family.
The family will be holding a private graveside service and burial in October to say goodbye.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.giffenmackdanforth.com for the Decker family.
