Dear Grandma,
I miss you already. I understand that you must go, but it’s just a painful situation. Please come down and listen to my playing whenever you like. That will make me very happy. I hope it is a nice place in heaven, a place filled with love. I just want you to do one thing for me: be happy. God wants you to be happy and your family does too. I will obey my parents just as you told me to – for your happiness.
Don’t worry about us- our time will come sooner or later and we’ll see each other again! I hope that you happy to see your grandparents, parents, siblings, friends and your husband again! We will soon be up there too, so never worry. Please come and spend time with us whenever you like - because we love you!
A Special Poem for Grandma
Beginnings begins as pretty and young
Fresh and wonderful with a clean tongue
Merry and happy with lots of fun
High in spirit and bright as the sun
Then there are times when you learn
Pain and love and twists and turns
Sorrow my dear has entered you
Still I love you my grandma
Someday this will happen to me too
Live happily with the heavens with grandpa
Do you know how much our family suffers in sadness
You are the key to the family’s happiness
Seeing you go just breaks my heart
I feel as bad as a polluted bay
You are like my sweet strawberry tart
I love you grandma and that is all I have to say
Amazing Grandma Lien
Grandmother Lien loved her family very much and would have done anything for us. She constantly worried about all of us each and every day. When I was a teenager and worked at the movie theatre, grandma would regularly wait up for me to come home before she could go to sleep in peace. All throughout her life, grandma exhibited all the qualities of a strong, hard working, intelligent and caring woman. Simply put, she was a remarkable woman who can never be replaced.
Grandma enjoyed going to church. She would take a long time getting ready, and would always look so put together and stunning. I would sometimes tease grandma about the amount of perfume she would spray on herself. Needless to say, she was always the best-scented person in any room. Her favourite things in life included, goi cuon (fresh rolls), pho tai gan (vietnamese noodle soup with rare beef & tendon), persimmons, green tea, Walkers's shortbread cookies, flowers & plants, perfume, a particular brown clip that held her hair tightly and neatly, tiger balm, Salonpas, watching SBTN, reading Thoi Bao, and engaging in religion conversations with my dad each and every morning. Although she enjoyed the things mentioned above, nothing made her happier than family get-togethers. Her life was her family. We love you so very much grandma. You will always be with us deep in our hearts.
