Kostas Kataras

1935-2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Kostas at the age of 89. He was born in Armenochori, Florina, Greece. He was a man of great warmth, strength, and deep love. He left this world as he lived-surrounded by family, cherished memories and peace in his heart.

Kostas had a deep connection to the earth and could often be found tending lovingly to his garden, coaxing beauty and life from the every corner of soil he touched. The burst of colour from his flowers will forever remind us of his nurturing spirit.

His love for Greek music and classic films filled his home with joy and nostalgia. Whether it was a soulful melody or a scene from a beloved old movie, Kostas found comfort and happiness in the stories and songs of his homeland.

Animals adored him, and he adored them right back-his pets were his constant companions, always by his side, a testament to the kindness and gentleness he carried with him through life.

Kostas leaves behind his devoted son Andonis, loving daughter-in-law Magdalini, and two granddaughters who adored him Melissa and Tina. Though we feel the sorrow of his absence, we take solace in knowing he has been reunited with the love of his life, Olga, in heaven.

His love, wisdom and the quiet joy he brought into our lives will remain with us always.

A visitation for Kostas will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jerrett Funeral Homes, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON M1K2B5. A funeral service will occur Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 3840 Finch Ave E, Toronto, ON M1T 3T4. A graveside service will occur Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Rd, Toronto, ON M1K 1R1. A reception will occur at White Shield Banquet Hall (Flippers), 2300 Lawrence Av E,, Scarborough.
