Peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital on January 28, 2015, in his 86th year. Joseph was a true, noble-hearted son of Bekecs, a small village in the Province of Zemplen, Hungary, where, from his earliest years, he received from his parents Mihaly Budi and Maria Szabo, his elder sister and brother, Anna and Gabor, and the kindly, hard-working community at large, the high moral and ethical teachings that sustained and guided him throughout his life. Joseph's kind gentle manner, his innate courtesy, open-hearted hospitality, and his inquiring, inventive mind endeared him to family and friends alike. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Elizabeth, her brother Jim (Jimmy) Kekanovich, sister-in-law Ann and their family, sister-in-law Catherine Kekanovich and her family, and sister-in-law Pauline Kekanovich and her family, and his Bekecs cousin Erzsebet and her children throughout Hungary. He appreciated and enjoyed the company of many other "Canadian" nieces and nephews - especially those skilled in re-programming electronic appliances and equipment!
Elizabeth and family express their heart-felt thanks to longtime friends for their kindness and compassion to both Joseph and themselves during Joseph's hospitalization, and their unfailing commitment to be of help in any manner required. We are humbled and thankful for such devotion.
Visitation will be held at the Jerrett Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge Street, (south of Steeles Ave) on Sunday, Febuary 1, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, February 2, 2015 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary R.C. Church, 432 Sheppard Ave. E., Toronto followed by a reception in the Church Hall. Interment at Spring Creek Cemetery, 1390 Clarkson Road North, Mississauga.
