Mr. John Ernest Purkis

Peacefully at the Markham-Stouffville Hospital at the age of 92. Beloved husband for 67 years of the late Gladys Dean Ecclestone. Loving father of Joan Miller (Walter Harris), Anne Purkis (Peter Lade), and Patricia Houlahan (John). Cherished Grandpa to Dean Smalley (Lee-Ann), Dewane Smalley (Christine), Karen Gulbraa, Steven Miller (Christine), Matthew Houlahan (Michelle), and Michael Houlahan. Great-Grandpa to Adam Smalley, Melissa Smalley, Cross Smalley, Brian Gulbraa, Breanne Gulbraa, and Nathan Miller. Dearest brother of Ernest Purkis (Marg), Mary Johnson (Mike), and Barbara Jones (Mike). Pre-deceased by sisters Audrey Adair (Howard) and Muriel Seccombe (Mac). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to send a special thanks to all who compassionately helped in the care of our father. Funeral Service will be held at Forest Grove United Church (43 Forest Grove Dr., North York, ON M2K 1Z4) on Friday September 17, 2010 at 11:00 am. with visitation at the church one hour prior.
