I have never met John but  Richard, my Son, has known John since St Brendan. He told me he only has good memories of their friendship and you could not find anyone to disagree with that - John had many good friends.

John will be missed. His kind and caring nature along with his sense of humour. John  always loved to chat and share a funny story.  Marilyn always had a soft spot for John and  I’m sure Rhys will miss her uncle Johnny.  I hope you find your peace John !

No parent should ever have to experience the pain of losing a child.  Our hearts ache for you.  May God give you strength during this most difficult time.  We’ve known John since he was a toddler.  We have watched him grow into a wonderful being.  He was always happy go lucky and his beautiful smile brightened up any room.   John, you will be missed!  Your spirit will live on forever.

I met John when I was about 12 or 13. He was a long-time friend of my older sister. I always loved this photo of John, me, and my niece on her 5th birthday. I was so shocked when I heard the news of his passing. He was way too young. My deepest condolences go out to his family, who I know meant the world to him. Rest in Peace, Johnny! And since it's 4/20, I'll light one up for you!

Johnny, as I called him, has been my colleague in the Front Office department, Marriott TDH. Most know he always led with an optimistic, albeit goofy, joke or something humorous. Oh Johnny! You who masked your personal health troubles so well. Never one to dwell on troubles much, or anything else decidedly "negative" for that matter! Instead, you'd often straight-up sooner talk about your good spliff, the one about to get lit up later that night, even as part of a health management routine, and perhaps a little more! I will  remember you as you told one of your numerous jokes Johnny, including the more colorful, and even some dry ones, with fondness! It's true, ya really  just never miss a good one till (he's) gone. May your path to eternal peace stay well lit Johnny! I'll think of you often, and I'll miss your almost encyclopaedic knowledge of old school reggae, rock and it's many stars. Light a big one up in paradise Johnny, and rock on eternally! Ya ain't gotta worry about any of this small stuff down here. We won't, "do anything you wouldn't do"!

Johnny O’Connor was one of the sweetest humans ever.
I first met him at a Boxing Day party at the Houlden’s house about 25 years ago and he’s smile was unforgettable.
We spent a little time with him when he worked up north at the couples Lodge in Algonkin Park where he let us take out a canoe for free !
 He had such a generous spirit and a loving open heart.
Johnny and I also shared a love for Disc Golf and I know how much he enjoyed his time playing at the beaches disc golf course for the last number of years.
Sending so much love to Tom, Anne-Marie and brothers Micheal and Andrew. Such a great loss for all who knew this sweet lovely man.
He is now resting in the heart of God✨🙏🏿✨

I have been truly grateful for chatting with John and just being able to chat with him and even hear jokes sometimes. John was such a kind person and always had something great to say.  He'll truly be remembered by many people. 
He may be gone, but never forgotten.

Johnny always had a sparkle in his eye, a smile, and a happy lilt to his voice. He always had time for a conversation and expressed interest in the community, friends, and family. There was a lightness to John O'Connor that will not be forgotten because he was special. His thoughtfulness was expressed in what he did for others every day, never out of a sense of duty, but just a gentle love.

I offer you my prayerful condolences on your recent and heartbreaking loss of John. Although I did not know him well, I certainly have pleasant memories of his jovial personality whenever I encountered him at your home. Given what his friends and colleagues have written, it is readily apparent that his legacy is rich and will be long lasting. May you draw a good measure of comfort from your memories. May God bless you and comfort you in the many difficult days ahead.

Dearest Tom and Anne Marie  we can not fathom the depth of your loss. Johnny was a kind, sweet, unique loving son and brother. 
He touched many with his kindness and had so many friends. He always had time to chat and share stories with us when we were visiting. I know he will be in heaven surrounded by other loving souls,  but also missed by so many here. I will forever miss him.  Working beside him everyday was always a joy. He would always come to work with a smile and always had a fist pump ready. He always had a joke for me, waiting for me to laugh.  I pass your desk wishing you were there. Rest in Paradise my friend.  You are surely missed.

I worked alongside John at the Toronto Marriott City Centre hotel at the Rogers Centre. Whenever John was wrapping up his shift he would step into the back office where I was answering the switchboard.  John would leave with this salutation after a kind fist pump, "Don't do anything that I would not do!"
You are missed Johnny.

We at Epilepsy Toronto  (epilepsytoronto.org) were both shocked and saddened to receive the news of John's passing.  He was a delight to work with and we loved his zany sense of humour and insightful comments during group meetings.  He was delighted when we helped place him at the Toronto Marriott Hotel and by all accounts they loved his work as a concierge. I just learned of John's passing and  wanted to extend condolences to his parents, siblings and other family members. We met John when he was just diagnosed with epilepsy and had the joy of  supporting him during his epilepsy journey. John was such a  lovely person who was always so encouraging to others here at Epilepsy Toronto. He brought a lot of light and humour to every meeting despite what he was going through. It was a pleasure knowing him and having him involved in our programs.  

With my deepest sympathies. You will be missed by the staff and clients of Epilepsy Toronto, John.

John and I to elementary school  (St. Brendan's) together. I will remember him for his kindness and positive attitude. I remember last day of grade 6 (Ms. Peres's Class) which was John's 12 birthday. Ms. Peres had gotten a cake for the kids that were leaving the school and has a special spot written just for John saying Happy Birthday. He was so happy. Condolences  to this family.

To the O’Connor family, I want to extend my deepest sympathy on John’s passing. 

I first met John in grade 5 at St Brendan’s Catholic School, he was in Mrs Morlock’s class and I was in Mrs Harrison. John sat beside me in the circle and we hung out at recess. Back then, and certainly now, I lacked a lot of confidence, and went through a lot at that school. John was always there, standing beside me, building me up when others tore me down. 

Later, in high school, we never had classes together, but John always checked in to see if I was ok. It was so nice to see him shine in the Mowat Athletic Council - I know how proud he was to be part of that. 

Now, fast forward to last summer, I’m walking into the Houses of Providence, from the day program where I work at Providence, and I hear a familiar “D’Silva!” Calling me. I look over and it’s John, to my surprise. We caught up and how refreshing. Our schedules didn’t align, as I would have loved to have shared a chat and coffee.

I will never forget John and his kindness. May eternal rest grant upon John and may the perpetual light shine on him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed rest in eternal peace. Amen.

Johnny, no words can describe our loss when your light went out.  Your positive nature, friendly vibes and kind-heartedness was what everyone knew and loved.  Your love for your family was so evident and you always held your friends in high regard.   I'm going to miss our bike rides, our walks and cruises to all our spots, so many spots! Going to miss your jokes, even the bad ones and all the fun we'd get up to.  We said goodbye before my trip and I had no idea that would be our last goodbye, it stings knowing I won't see you at our supperclubs anymore, I won't see you in the hood on the garbage truck.  Rosetta McLain will always be our meet up spot, I'll cherish that place forever and visit often in your name.  You were always ready for an adventure, and over the last few years we had more than ever.  You were my oldest male friend, 22 years and counting.  May you rest eternally in peace now, no fear, no pain, no restrictions, just pure happiness and joy.  I'll miss you forever Johnny.
