We first met Joan in Harley street as the parents of her future son-in- law, Peter. She was impressive and slightly intimidating to begin with but the afternoon soon became more relaxed and we have much enjoyed her company since then particularly when we visited Toronto. We discovered that she really enjoyed a robust discussion which continued over many visits often over the dinner table with good food and wine.  We know how much she loved and was loved by her family and we were privileged to be a small part of that.

My sincerest condolences for your loss of the extraordinary woman Dr. Hibberd.   I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to meet and spend time with Dr. Hibberd on several occasions.   She welcomed me warmly, and I enjoyed learning about her amazing career and life.   And I was thrilled when she asked me one time to make her a shrimp stir-fry for dinner as she was craving seafood that day.  I was happy to do anything for Dr. Hibberd that might give her a little bit of joy.   She was so grateful she sent me up to the CN tower for lunch as a token of her appreciation.  She was so thoughtful.

I am in awe of how strong Dr. Hibberd is, raising 8 children, and 35 grand children and 28 great-grandchildren!  She has indeed left a remarkable legacy, and world and myself won't forget her. 

I wish her loved ones peace and beautiful memories as you grieve her loss.

It is with fond memory that I write this note all the way from thailand and the recent news of her death from Robert.

 Joan was such a character professionally and personally, she will be hard to forget. Raising all of her children and getting them to downside school (where I met rob) and other places of equal stature is no small feat . I have heard about her professional achievements and really am in admiration. 

Most of All I remember the enjoyable moments at half term and at the Hibberds place on those icy cold days in London , running around being teenagers , drinking too much , staying out toolate causing mischief. She seemed to “go with the flow” and be part of the program!


My condolences to Robert hibberd at this time. 
What an end to an era , Joan  an exemplary individual can teach us many things , most of all, stay strong , chin up, always smile and live love and embrace this one life we all have to the full

While I did not have the pleasure of meeting this wonderful woman, I am deeply saddened by her passing. She is the mother of my friend, Robert & the grandmother of my dearest friend, Rhianna. Our most heartfelt condolences to her family and my friends.
