Jin Ying Ling, better known as Gold Auntie to all her nieces and nephews, had lived a full life. Born in Calcutta India and moved to China in her teens where she lived for most of her adult life in beautiful Shanghai. While in Shanghai, Gold Auntie worked as a health practitioner and was an active community member helping others.
She immigrated to Toronto Canada in the mid 1980s and has lived here every since. Gold Auntie continued her giving ways in Toronto by volunteering at the Yee Hong Geriatric Home and received much recognition for her efforts.
Gold Auntie along with many of my other aunts was in many ways my second mom while we were in China. I do still recall being picked up at the train station while she was traveling from Shanghai to Guangzhou, picked up meant being passed thru an open train window as a six year old sack of potatoes. Not elegant but at least it was free, free to ride and free from parental supervision for the summer.
Gold Auntie will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
Your loving nephew,
Ten
