It is with great sadness to announce the unexpected passing of Jerrod Luke Mounce on the evening of Monday April 8th, 2024 from a heart attack. It was so sudden that our small family is still reeling in the pain from his loss.
Jerrod is remembered by his mother, June, sister Nadine Mounce, niece Paityn, aunt and uncle Merry and Brian Toshoff, and his cousin Rob (Richa) Toshoff.
Jerrod was always a quiet shy guy. He had so many hobbies but absolutely loved Huey Lewis and the News, Back to the Future, Star Wars, photography, going to Toronto Blue Jay games, Barenaked Ladies, investigating our family history together with Nadine, and playing video games, to name a few. Most of all he adored his niece Paityn as she brought such joy and happiness into his life since the day she was born. She loved him so much, as we all did, and enjoyed going to visit so they could play and build things together, plant seeds in the backyard and watch them grow every summer, play Wii and other fun games, among so many other things. He shone so bright as an uncle and we will always carry these memories in our hearts. In recent years he took over full-time care of his mother who will never be the same without him. His aunt and uncle were always his rock and took such care to help him grow as a boy into a man, right up until the day he passed. He will especially be missed by his best friend, his cousin Rob. As kids they did most things together, especially during March breaks and summers, all the way into adulthood when they went out on adventures in the city, to just hanging out, to everything in between. He could be himself with Rob and always had someone to talk to, and seeing as he was nowhere close to a talker, it just shows how special their friendship was.
Jerrod will be laid to rest by Giffen-Mack & Trull on the Danforth, who have been there for our past family members, and the community of the east end for so long. The family has decided to not have a viewing or funeral as we believe this would have been his wish due to his shyness and condition.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in his name, as this disease has taken most of the men in our family. Thank you to all our family and friends who have reached out and sent kind words, love and support during this difficult time.
Rest easy, Jerrod. You are now back in the arms of Granny (Betty) Mounce, who had been waiting and watched over you for so long, along with Dad (Rodney). May your light always shine on us. We will love and miss you so much always!
Love to all that knew him.
