It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jennifer Elisabeth Thompson, who departed this world on September 16, 2024, just after celebrating her 75th birthday. Born on September 11, 1949, Jennifer lived a life defined by love, kindness, and service to others.
A devoted wife, Jennifer shared nearly five decades of marriage with her beloved husband, Mervyn, whom she married in 1975. Together, they built a life rich with love, laughter, and cherished family moments. She was a proud and loving mother to her two children, Jason and Tara, and a doting grandmother to her grandson, Levi, with whom she shared a special bond.
Her fierce love for her family and community will be remembered by all who knew her.
Family was at the core of who Jennifer was. She was also a cherished sister to Dave, Conrad, Lola, Vashti, Leona and her late sister Deborah, she was a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, and a treasured mother-in-law to Akini.
Jennifer was not just an educator by profession but also a teacher in the truest sense of the word. Her nurturing spirit and genuine care for others extended beyond the classroom, touching the lives of countless students, colleagues, and friends. Jennifer was a treasured friend to Liz, Lynette, Celia, Judith and many more.
To many, she was like a second mother, always ready with a listening ear, a warm embrace, or wise counsel. Her home was always open, her heart always full, and her presence a source of comfort and strength for everyone around her.
Jennifer’s story is one of compassion, generosity, and unyielding love for those she held dear. She will be missed beyond measure but leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
May she rest in heavenly peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave to others.
