Helen Marlene Hachey

Helen was born to loving parents Alier and Esther Cormier (nee Jollymore) on September 23, 2023 in Toronto, Ontario. She grew up and attended school in Cabbagetown, Toronto. At night school acquired the skills to work as a Secretary at Mutual Life (now Sun Life). Helen worked extremely hard at Mutual Life and her efforts led her to work directly for the Chairman of the Board. Helen later went on to marry the love of her life, Reginald Hachey, on October 1, 1955. They were married for 53 years, and had their two children, John and Cathi.

Helen was active all her life, including during her retirement. She was a Volunteer Organizer for the Out of the Cold Program at St. Brigid’s Parish, and she was also a member of the Ramblers Singing Group, and a member and organizer of the East York Senior Citizen Club (Cedarvale Branch), as well as an avid Euchre player. Helen always kept busy. She was a life-long learner, and loved to read and travel.

Helen is predeceased by her husband Reginald Hachey, and her siblings Randolph “Ran”, Douglas, Robert, Gladys Calderone, Barbara Hachey, and Pauline, Kolcun. Helen is survived by her children John (Karen Nelson) of Edmonton, and Cathi Hachey of Hamilton, and her grandchildren Aisha Nelson-Hachey, Joseph Nelson-Hachey, and Elinor Nelson-Hachey.

Helen will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
