I am so grateful to have known Gordie and be a part of his family.  He is one of a kind. A very honourable and smart man.

I will always remember our little chats during family gatherings, when he would share great information from books that he had read and from his life experiences.

One of the  most heart-warming memories of him is when Gordon and I would bring him his favorite boston creme doughnut when we visit him at the nursing home.  I have never salivated at a sight of a doughnut before, but watching him enjoy it, would do so and at the same time warm my heart. 

Rest in peace Gordie.  I really believe you should have been awarded,  in your lifetime, as "Man of the Year", because you have a heart as big as the universe and we all love you for that.

My bionic man where do I start.
You came into my life 48 years ago and changed it forever.
As any married couple we had our ups and downs but that is what life is all about

You were a good provider always there for us,  Gordie you had  many difficult times but you never  complained always thinking of everyone beside yourself.
Yesterday I had to say  goodbye which was hard it broke my heart, you always told me to be strong so that is what I am doing.
You fly high with the angels and put your arms around Martha, Betty  my Mom (Ritchie) she is with you.

Gord Brown (Gordie) was such gentleman. I always said he was the smartest man I knew. 

I have lots of great memories as I have been in the family 41 years, but the one I remember most was Gordie was just coming in the door from dropping Norah off at work and I had my arm in the cookie cupboard, I was embarrassed as I didn’t like going into there cupboards especially because I was new to the family but Pam told to.  Gordie just said hi Dennis. 

I could go on about all the wonderful memories and there are lots but I will hold onto to all of them. 

Gordie in all the 41 years I have known him he never raised his voice he was always soft spoken and so kind.

It’s difficult for me to narrow down one favourite moment with Gord. I will always remember our conversations and how he greeted me, “Hello Michael”.  He’s the only person who called me by my full first name. 

It is my hope that I can lead my family in the same manner as you did. Thanks for being a great role model for me. You were one of a kind, Gord. I will miss you dearly. Rest peacefully.

To the BEST DAD EVER! I know everyone says that about their dads, but to me he was the real deal. A young man taking on four children and having two more, and from there teaching all six of us to be kind, respectful and honest towards not just each other but to everyone we meet, just like the man he was. I can go on forever about Mr. Gordon Brown, but I just want to say I’m happy and lucky to get to call him MY DAD. I’m so beyond proud to call myself Richard James Brown! My dad...one of a kind!

He was an honest, caring and hard-working man who would do anything for anyone. He looked for the good in people, and he raised me to do the same. 
 
Some of the most memorable times I had with my dad were during my days at the dance studio. He would drive me to and from the studio, often waiting outside for upwards of an hour while I chatted with friends inside. He was also ‘one of the girls’ at the dance recitals, always lending a hand to sell tickets, pull curtains for the shows, or selling food and drinks. 

I will always remember staying up late to watch ‘The Incredible Hulk’ with my dad as he drank his Carlsberg beer, and then getting a piggy back up the stairs at bed time.  I know the past few years have been difficult, but I will always remember bringing you donuts and hot chocolate when I came for a visit. 

Dad, you held me up when I was a little girl learning how to skate, you held me up when I was nervous going to my first job interview, and you held me up as you walked me down the aisle at my wedding.  Dad, I will always hold YOU up on a pedestal because of the amazing man you were. 

I am so grateful for everything you did for me. You taught me how to be respectful, humble, and honest...all of the traits I admired in you.  

You will always live on in my heart. Rest  peacefully, Dad.

Grandpa, we have created so many memories over the past 17 years and it’s hard to choose a favourite because they’re all equally special. There are so many things I want to write but there isn’t enough words that will describe my love for you. One thing I love about you is that you could always light up a room and bring a smile to anyone’s face. You made this family complete. Words can not describe the pain I felt, you were an amazing man, a great role model, an outstanding dad, and one of the best grandfathers in the world. I’m happy I got to meet you. Grandpa, you were such an amazing man and nothing I write here can even begin to express what you have done for myself and everyone else who had the pleasure of meeting you. We share a middle name and because of that I’ll always carry a piece of you with me. We had a lot in common. We both loved books and reading, especially if it was a something about history. You were such a fast reader and because of that I still have so many books that you’ve given me to get through, but I promise one day I’ll get through them all. I’ll never forget how loving, caring, and affectionate you were. I remember when I was little and we all went to see the fireworks at Nathan Phillips Square. I was exhausted and pretended to be asleep because I didn’t want to make the long walk back to the car. Without hesitation you lifted me up and carried me the entire way back. In hindsight I’m so glad I pretended to be asleep because it’s my favourite memory of the two of us and proves just how amazing of a person you were. Thank you for that and for everything else; from the endless supply of chocolate bars to the hundreds of days we spent at the trailer. You were loved deeply by many and will be greatly missed by all, especially the Snack Pack pudding company. You sure did love your pudding. 

I thought instead of sharing photo of us together, I’d share my favourite thing you ever gave me. I’ve kept these medals for years and I plan to keep them safe for the rest of my life. I know how much they meant to you and they've always meant a lot to me as well.

I did not know Gordon well, but my aunt Tammy spoke very highly of him. He helped shape her into the person she is today and I am extremely grateful. My deepest condolences to the family.

Gordon Brown you were always a gentleman, a real straight shooter . Kim and I were sincerely moved by your ability to make us feel like family any time we were part of your family gatherings . You would take the time to ask how we are doing and always ask about the kids , never judgemental, never condescending.  With your gentle demeanour you had the ability to make one feel better about ones self . You will always be here in spirit due to the great job you did instilling life’s values into your children  , they were fortunate to have you as a father. Mr. Brown (Gordon), was always a huge supporter of his daughter Patricia, dancing at our dance studio on Yonge St, way back in the day ! Always had a smile, kind word and always eager and ready to lend a hand wherever and whenever he could- and he did! He ( and Norah) often helped out at recitals and registrations and just about with anything we asked- - curtains, lights, collecting tickets at the door....anything ! And he did it with enthusiasm and pride watching his daughter dance.
Norah, we are deeply sorry  for your loss. We will always remember Gordon as a kind, supportive parent and gentle soul, who always went the extra mile to help and knew when you needed it most!
Please know Gordon will be fondly remembered by all the Twymans;  he will always be in our hearts.

Grandpa, you are so dearly missed.

You were definitely a man with a sweet tooth! I'll never forget weekends at you and Nana's house hunting for the chocolate bars in your closet. Or waking up to freshly baked oatmeal chocolate chip muffins (which I made today actually!) 

You were a man of such strength. I remember going for walks to the park or the mall on the weekends we would sleep at your house. Or when you and Nana would swing us in a sheet in the living room or pull us down the stairs on blankets. But, you showed strength right up until the very end - that takes great strength!

You were a man of so much knowledge. You could tell anyone stories about history, sports - especially baseball (I remember having to watch it while being at your house and thinking how boring it was to watch baseball on T.V. - lol sorry .. I actually enjoy it now). You loved to read and hear all the stories we all had to share too. 

You were a man of honesty! You are the only person that I know that would return change that they were wrongly given. 

But most importantly, you were a man of so much love. It is clear that not only were you loved by SO many, but you loved us all SO dearly too. We felt it always. 

It saddens me to be writing this but I'm happy knowing you are now at peace. I hope you're enjoying a delicious chocolate bar, some root beer and feeling all of the love we are giving you up in Heaven right now. We love you SOO much.

They sure don't make men like Gordie Brown anymore...

He was the kindest, most honest, caring, unselfish, and generous person one could ever know, and I was BLESSED and MOST GRATEFUL to have him for a Dad!; a true role model!!

I have so many years of fond memories I wouldn't know where to start. Skiing, the cottage rental's, the trailer, day trips picnicking, working at the Post Office together, Birthdays, Christmas', BBQ's in my backyard with Mom and our Dear Martha...we're 2 chairs down!😢

Dad, you truly inspired me in many ways, but most of all, to be a Dad, Grandpa (Papa) and Step-Dad myself.

He himself was the most INCREDIBLE DAD, GRANDPA, GREAT GRANDPA, and FRIEND you could EVER wish for.
Dad was also, amongst many other prominent and noteworthy attributes, a LOVING and DEVOTED HUSBAND to our BEAUTIFUL MOMMA! Norah with an 'H'. 😉❤

My Uncle Gordie was a one of a kind! 

My fondest memories as a child was spending Christmas night with my family...my Uncle Gordie would always come and pick me up after dinner. He would sacrifice his evening  to  come and get me, so I could enjoy time with my family...and that’s just the type of man he was, always putting others first. Where do I start, Gordie was the sweetest person I have ever known.  He was kind, thoughtful and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Dad l will always be grafteful for everything you did for me. Remembering those hockey and baseball touranments we used go to. You always gave me the best of everything and l never went without. My dad was not just a dad but a great father, father in law and great/grandfather.  He was a wonderful role model and taught me so much about saving money. He was always kind and never spoke a bad word about anyone. When I had my kids he would pick me up and drop the kids off at two different daycares and in the summer time take Derek to summer camps, if it wasn’t for my dad I probably never went for my license. We all seen him fight so hard over the years but he never gave up or let it get him down. Dad if only I could have given you that one wish for Father’s Day I would have, you are now at peace. I will always remember everything you did for me and my family, love you always xoxo 

Grandpa was one of a kind. He has been there by my side since I was a baby, and has helped me grow and become the young woman I am today. I will always cherish our walks to the library near the condo and our visits to the bookstore. From watching me do handstands in the pool to telling me stories about his childhood, these are memories I will never forget. He was the best Grandpa there ever was. Although we didn’t spend much time with Gordie over the years, we always admired his devotion and love of Norah and their family. During the times we did have with Gordie we remember he was quiet spoken, always respectful of others (including the kids) and most definitely a good listener. My dad was an amazing father and grandfather he was always there for his entire family. He would take me to gymnastics, figure skating and hen I had my own children he would pick me up and drop my kids off at daycare and then continue and drop me off at the bus so I could get to work on t8me. He taught me how to save and not over spend, if it wasn’t for my dad I really don’t think I would have gone for my license. My dad was one of a kind, hard worker never complained. As Norah said Gordie was “one in a million”.    Always a gentleman,  a wealth of knowledge, and always spoke kindly of everyone.  RIP Gordie.  

Norah and family we were very saddened to hear of the loss of Gord,  he was my godfather and very well known to the Smith, Mcann and Mckechnie family, when speaking of Gord to a family member Marsha McCann, she remembered Gord and his Volkswagen going to take his grandmother for a ride. We have fond memories of Gord from many years ago, it’s to bad  we all moved away and grew apart with our lives, thank goodness  for  social media , our thoughts and prayers to you all.
