Glynis was born on August 1, 1959 in Weston (Toronto), ON. She was a beloved daughter of the late (April 6, 2021) Daphne Thomas (nee Tierney).
Glynis is survived by and will be dearly missed by her sister Kim, brothers Christopher and Michael, her brother-in-law Chris and her sister-in-law Linda. Glynis’ niece Audrey and nephews, Simon, Gareth, Matthew, and Nicolai will also miss their Auntie Glynis. Glynis’ extended family in Australia send their love.
Glynis grew up on Spenvalley Drive in Downsview, Ontario. She attended schools in the area including C.W. Jeffries S.S. and took several courses at Seneca College.
Glynis struggled with mental health issues most of her life. However, that did not stop her from always having a wonderful smile for people, loving deeply and making people feel so very, very special. She gave great hugs. Glynis was her happiest when working and hanging out at the clubhouse at Progress Place or visiting with family. She loved watching Hallmark movies, MASH, Blue Bloods and cooking programs.
We would like to thank Glynis’ caregivers, recently Tenzin and Nikhil, from Progress Place, her fellow members at Progress Place and the many friends who made her life beautiful as Glynis often said. A special thank you to Lucy Liu at Progress Place. Lucy was a true sister to Glynis, demonstrated by many years of loving care.
Thank you to two very special friends, Catherine and Shawn, with whom she spent so much time over the years and made Glynis feel special.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 3:00, at Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home, 467 Sherbourne Street, Toronto. The family will greet Glynis' friends from 2:00 to 3:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Progress Place, https://www.progressplace.org/donate.html an organization that was a second family to Glynis, and was a very strong support to her and her family over several decades.
