I have known Mr. Francesco Spizzirri for about 8 months and throughout that time, he has been grateful, humble and with a pleasant smile. His simplicity and some of his life stories (work) in the earlier days has touched me. He was quite generous and share his garden produce, tomatoes, with me. He was a very nice person and I will miss him.

The passing away of your dear Franco, father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, a man with EXCEPTIONAL qualities, you all must feel PROUD to have been part of his life. 

Without Franco, nothing will be the same as before. 


At any time, day, night, or Sunday when he was sitting at the table having lunch receiving a phone call from a family member, friend, neighbor, workmates asking him for advice on how to do something, his answer was: 

"I'll be with you soon, I'll do it and it's easy to do it". 


Franco repaired everything; he had blessed hands and a GOLDEN HEART. It will be impossible to meet another Franco. HE was one of a KIND. You will always be in our hearts, in our thoughts, and in our prayers.

Frank was born in Italy on March 14, 1937. He was from a large family of five brothers and two sisters.

In May 1958, at the age of 21, he came to Canada with his older brother. He started to work for an Italian construction company building houses.

In 1966,  Frank joined Metro Transportation Department as a handyman and later became a SIGNMAKER/CARPENTER.

In April 1975, Frank and Vince met at the Metro Downsview Transportation Operation Yard.  At the same location where Frank was working, Vince took the job as a timekeeper. Frank and Vince became friends at the first moment they met, and in 1984 their friendship became a business partnership.

Over the many years and hard times along the way, we agreed, disagreed, we argued many times, but at the end of the day, when we were tired and went home, we always left with a smile on our face with the knowledge that we would see each other again the day after.

On Sunday, February 07, 2021, when Gianni (Frank’s son) called me and said that FRANK was no longer with us, for Vince,  the start of a long and sad day has just begun knowing that Vince will NOT meet Frank at Hartham ANYMORE.

VINCE and ALL the residents at Hartham will miss YOU, FRANK.

“MIO AFFEZZIONATO CARO FRATELLO E AMICO, Riposa in Pace". (MY AFFECTIONATE DEAR BROTHER AND CLOSEST FRIEND, Rest in Peace). You will be in everyone's heart forever. "YOU WERE ONE OF KIND”. (Vince)
