Eugenia Columbos

Eugenia Columbos, 87 of Ballantrae, ON, peacefully passed away on Friday May 17, 2013 at Southlake Regional Hospital in Newmarket, ON.

Eugenia was born in Kharkov, USSR, met her husband Alexander in Austria and gave birth to her first four children before immigrating to Canada in 1949. Eugenia was the proprietor of Alexander’s Gas Bar on Hwy 48 in Ballantrae for over 35 years. Alexander’s Gas Bar operated under a number of retailers over the years, most currently Pioneer.

Predeceased by her husband Alexander, her sons John and Peter, her son-in-law Roy and her granddaughter Hayley.

Lovingly remembered by her children: Michael (Elizabeth), Penny (Paul Kirkby), Anna, Effie, Alexandra, Theodore, Joanne (Ken MacDermid), Elisabet and daughter in-law Rhonda; her 14 grandchildren Tim, Alexander (Madeleine), Anastasia, Amy Jean, Jason (Nicola), Candice (Christian Torok), Zoie (Mark Williamson), Zachary, Zenia (Marko Mihevc), Michael T., Andrew, Kenny, Alysa, Jessica; her 5 great-grandsons Kaelan, Jack, Nicholas, Elliot and Felix.

Visitation will be held at Jerrett Funeral Home 660 Kennedy Rd, Toronto, ON. 416-266-4404 on Tuesday May 21, 2013 from 4pm-8pm.

The funeral service will be held at Saints Panteleimon, Anna and Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church 11323 Warden Avenue, Markham, ON. on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at 10am. Interment Pine Hills Cemetery.
