Ethel Mary Taylor passed away peacefully at Extendicare Bayview on June 26th at 90 years of age. She is survived by her daughter, Franceen Taylor, and predeceased by her husband Frank Taylor, her brothers, James and Paul Kent and her sister, Mabel Kent. Ethel was born in the County of Norfolk, England. She volunteered for the WAAF (Women’s Auxiliary Air Force) where she worked as a Flight Sergeant during World War II and became a war bride in May of 1945 when she married Frank, a Canadian soldier. In 1946 she immigrated to Canada where she settled with her husband in Montreal and later retired in Pembroke, Ontario prior to coming to Toronto.
Ethel’s family and friends will miss her lovely smile and genuine warmth, and she will be remembered for her words of wisdom, love of reading, gardening, nature, the little things that brought her joy during her lifetime, and her lifelong interest in all topics of conversation.
Friends will be received at the Jerrett Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge St., North York on Thursday, June 30 from 2 to 3 pm followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 3pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
