Elizabeth Jean Short

Passed peacefully in Lindsay, Ontario on January 12 in her 96th year. Born February 1st, 1927, in Bishops Auckland, County Durham, United Kingdom, one of 5 children. During the height of the Depression she, with her sister Dot moved to Radstock, County Somerset and lived with Aunt Frances and Uncle Herbert through the war years. She graduated as an RN in Weston Super Mare in Somerset and married her late (2014) loving husband Richard Short of the Royal Navy in 1949. With a gloomy economic outlook in post war Britain they settled in Scarborough Ontario, Canada in 1953. They raised four 4 children, Melanie, Kathy, Michael, and Jamie who survive them. She is also survived by her sister Dot who remained in England. She is also a grandmother and great grandmother numerous times over.

After a harrowing start to life, she did find peace with her husband Richard and life in Canada. A graveside gathering will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery in Scarborough this summer where both will be interred together.
