Elide was a courageous and fiercely independent woman who lived on her own terms. Her greatest pride was her family and the strong bonds she nurtured, and her legacy is the love and unity she instilled in each of us, a love she modeled with quiet grace and compassion throughout her life.
Not only was Elide a masterful home cook, renowned for unforgettable dishes at family gatherings and traditional holiday feasts, but her skills in the kitchen were matched by her talent in making women's clothing. Starting as a machine operator, she worked her way up to lead the quality control department before her retirement. Her attention to detail and dedication in everything she did were a testament to her strong work ethic.
Even in her later years, Elide was an avid reader, a passion she pursued even in English, which was her second language. Through her love of reading, she kept herself informed and engaged in current events, always ready to share her insights and knowledge with those around her.
Having no immediate family in Canada, she lovingly built her own with her husband, Egidio. After his tragic death in 1989, her family grew alongside her pride and joy, as her children with their partners, and later, grandchildren and their loved ones, became the center of her world. Her love was expressed through actions—preparing beautiful meals, helping with newborn grandchildren, or ensuring we were wrapped in scarves on cold, windy days. Every gesture, no matter how small, was filled with care and thoughtfulness.
She is the loving mother of Rita (Carlo Vitali) and Anthony Villa (Paola Argentino). Cherished Nonna of Stefan (Nephelane), Danielle (Joshua), Madeleine (Beck) and Xavier. Dear sister of Anna Maria Fiorelli and Aldo Fiorelli (Maria). Elide will be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews and their families in Canada and in Italy. She will be forever remembered, loved and missed by all of her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family have requested donations in Memory of Elide Villa be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital - Hematological Cancer (please see link to Elide's memorial page below)
