Eddie was born in Nairobi, Kenya on June 23, 1936 to Diego and Annie Rodrigues. He worked as an insurance broker and co-owned a resort in Naivasha. After moving to Toronto in the 1970’s, he became a small business owner and later, was the head bartender at aptly named King Edward Hotel. On February 5th, 1961, he married Monica Rosa and they raised three sons; Darryl, Aaron and Nolan.
From a young age, Eddie was passionate about many things. He was an award-winning athlete, a talented saxophone player, an enthusiastic fisherman and a true champion for Goa. This final passion earned him the nickname “King of Goa”, as he advocated for the interests of the Goan community. He had an infectious sense of humour and was famous for his story-telling skills and offers of hospitality.
Eddie will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loving wife Monica, his sons Darryl, Nolan and Aaron, his daughters-in-law Lisa and Emma, and his grandchildren Lucas and Maya.
Eddie’s family greatly appreciates the many gestures of sympathy and words of condolences at this very difficult time.
