Loving and caring father of Jim (Shirley), Marg (Glenn) Squires, Terri (Mike) McDonnell, Vicki (Jay) Wilkes, and of his former daughter-in-law Catherine (nee Brown). Proud grandfather of Jordan (Greg) McCormack, Emily (Chris) Allison, Joshua (Kathryn Coletti), Alison (Brandon) Ridding, Ted Pillinger; Meaghan, Hilary (Christopher) Collins, Shelagh (Brogan Scaiff), Daniel Squires; Ray (Katie Coombs), Naomi, Charlie and Deirdre Wilkes. Proud great-grandfather of Mary-Anne and Bryan Squires; Nolan, Mallory, Leo, and Simon Allison; Violet and Fiona McCormack; Bradamante Pillinger; Charlotte, Nathan, and Audrey Ridding. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by family and friends. The true regrets of his life were the failures of his marriages. Survived by his ex-wives, Lil (nee Chamberlain) and Cathie (nee Bradbury). Son of Margaret (1952) (nee McCleery) and Victor (1975) and stepson of Flora (1986) (nee Roberts). He was born and lived in Toronto until his retirement (a 38 year employee of Excelsior Life/Aetna Canada) and lived briefly in Barrie before moving to Kirkfield. He died peacefully surrounded by loved ones, free from the pain of his last 18 months. The family would like to thank Dr. Li, Dr. Barnett, and the staff at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie; Dr. Francis, Dr. Sudbury, Dr. Sommers, and the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay. Special thanks to Melissa who cared for him through his last evenings and to Ruth Ann and Sarah who made his last hours comfortable. Thanks to Patty Madill and the CECCAC.
