Berto Dutra, age 55, of Toronto, Ontario passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022. He is survived by his beloved wife, Julia, his beautiful daughters, Amelie and Sophie, his parents, Julio and Maria Da Conceicao, his sister, Patricia (Peter), his nephew and niece, Gabriel and Gisele, and loved by his in-laws, Borys and Rayisa.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 6, 1967, Berto came to Canada at the age of three. He attended Parkdale Public School, Western Technical Institute and the University of Toronto, forming everlasting friendships wherever he went.
Berto never failed to make his friends and family laugh when telling stories of his time at Harbourfront and working at his dad’s store. Soon after, Berto joined the Bank of Montreal’s Investorline, where he gathered more iconic tales that would be told at dinners for decades to come.
Berto went on to graduate from Dalhousie with both his MBA and a new group of friends, who are still close to this day.
Outside of work, Berto loved travelling, the outdoors, and was a passionate photographer, taking his camera everywhere he went. He was a loving husband and father who instilled his love of 80s music, SNL, hockey and barbecues in his girls.
His generosity was boundless, sponsoring children through World Vision, and donating to countless foundations.
Berto and Julia’s home was a welcoming place for friends to meet, and have a good time. He was always there for his friends and always supported his family. Berto had a great sense of humour and was an incredibly kind and thoughtful person. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
